I don’t think so!

In his "Make good art" speech delivered at the commencement ceremony for the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Neil Gaiman said the following about the feeling of vulnerability in writing and creating:

"The moment that you feel that just possibly you’re walking down the street naked, exposing too much of your heart and your mind and what exists on the inside, showing too much of yourself. That’s the moment, you may be starting to get it right."

This quote emphasises the importance of authenticity and vulnerability in creative work. It suggests that when an artist feels exposed and raw, they are likely tapping into a deeper, more genuine form of expression.

So here's my story for the day.

It’s amazing how even at our lowest we find the energy to get out there and share with the world things that are not true. Or that are partially true.

Like a feeling of serenity when you’re going through a burn out. Picture A is taken two days before picture B and I look pretty in both. What no-one knows about the time these pictures were taken is that back then I was burn out.

The pixie cut was not a fashion decision, it was the result of hair loss which happened because of the burn out I was just talking about.

So what’s my take on fake it til you make it? Don’t.

You’re creating chaos on the internet and the likes won't help. No one will be able to see you in your darkness and give you a hand out so you'll stay there unnecessarily long.
